Message from the Firm
By Mark Terman
In this newsletter, we address some of the hottest issues affecting our clients now and how we are helping them.
So many employers need to cut costs and inspire the best from their personnel so their company can compete, or even just survive, in this economy. Employers who had an “I’ll deal with it later” attitude toward underproductive employees must make the tough decisions now. At the same time, terminated employees, who have fewer options to find comparable employment, seem more likely to consider filing a lawsuit.
Our articles on preparing for a reduction in workforce and alternatives to layoffs identify paths an employer, with the help of counsel, may take to lawfully reduce personnel, pay or hours. For your remaining workforce, another article explains possible cuts to retirement plan funding.
Finally, in this economy, we are seeing a rise in employee theft and other crimes in workplaces. We spotlight one of our cases in which we obtained injunctions preventing a former sales executive from using our client’s trade secret customer lists and from soliciting our clients’ employees.
