100 Most Influential People in Defined Contribution

Fred Reish, founder and partner of the firm, was named the second most influential person in the 401(k) industry by a survey conducted by The 401kWire. Bruce Ashton, partner of Reish & Reicher, also earned high results at number forty-eight in the survey of 401(k) specialists.

Reish, named to the top of the list for the third year in row, ranked second behind Congressman George Miller, chair of the House Education and Labor Committee, who oversees much of the legislation impacting 401(k) and other types of defined contribution plans. With the unexpected events that dominated 2008, 2009 will be a year of transition for 401(k) as lawmakers, regulators, pundits, employers and employees lobby industry insiders on desired changes to 401(k) plan legislation.

“I am honored to be considered in the same caliber of influential people as Congressman Miller and the numerous other government regulators, investment professionals and thought leaders named on the list,” noted Reish. “At Reish Luftman, we continuously strive to make positive changes in the industry, not just comply with the rules.”

Ashton commented, “Being on this list is a career highlight. But what is most gratifying is the implicit recognition that the efforts of our employee benefits team at Reish Luftman are making a difference in the 401(k) industry.”
